Alexandra nodded. ''Yes, I do.'' She said in her calm musical tone.
''Are you ready for the trials?'' Karsten asked raising an eyebrow. ''You know that before each trial you have twenty-four hours to practice and rest, correct? And that should you fail you will die?'' He asked.
Alex nodded. ''Yes, I am prepared.'' She replied looking at him with the same stare he gave her.

Lily looked form her lover to her father to Alex, her expression still mildly nervous.
Oliver nodded. "Very well...then may you have luck, Miss Wolfe." He said solemnly.

Karsten nodded in agreement. ''We will draw for your first trial now so you can practice until this time tomorrow, or whatever it is you wish to do.'' He said. Then two guards came carrying the bag full of rocks which had numbers on them and a parchment with scribbly writting. Karsten being the eldest drew a rock from the bag. It had a twenty-seven on it. He showed it to the crowd and everyone gasped in shock and disbelief.
Even poor Alex gasped. ''Oh, my..''She said.
Twenty-seven stood for one of the hardest trials. It was the trial in which one must go into the heart of the Mountain, which posed a threat because of all the unknown passages, and dropoffs, then, it is said there is a great spider there, whcih you had to steal an egg from bring it back, and eat it. It didnt sound bad, but, to wise Vampires, it was horrid. None had survived this trial and, those who made it back with the spider egg died eating it for it contained the same gene which cats owned that killed Vampire's.
Shouts erupted that she shouldnt have to do it being a woman, but she simply nodded. ''Alright.''

Lily covered her mouth with her pale hands and looked at Oliver.
The Prince's expression did not change, but his blue-grey eyes glimmered with respect for Alex.

''Very well. We will see yoou tomorrow night. May the luck of the Vampire's be with you, Alexandra.'' Karsten said.
Alex smiled and bowed. ''Thank you, milord's.''She said looking up greatfully.

Oliver nodded in his slightly aloof way but did not again offer his well-wishings.
Lily's emerald gaze dropped to her hands and she fiddled with the sleeves of her dress.

Karsten nodded and all of the Vampires began leaving. Alexinstantly weaved her way through the crowd to pratice herself. She had some old maps of the Mountain that might help her.
''Well...thats interesting..''Karsten said.

Oliver smiled dazedly. "Indeed it was...I do hope Miss Wolfe survives the Trial..." He murmered.
Lily stood and waved a hand in fornt of her father's face. "Woo-hoo...? You look a little...out of it, Olie."

Oliver and Lily looked both looked at Karsten worriedly, then at each other.
Lily rested a hand on her Prince's shoulder. "You okay, caomh?" She asked, her voice tiny.

Karsten nodded. ''Yes...Im, fine.''He replied clearing his throat and shaking his head. Inside he knew he wasnt, really okay though.

Oliver raised his eyebrows and frowning, stood. "Well, I have personal matters to attend to--mainly sleep. I shall see you both sometime tommorow." He said, then ambled from the Hall, heading for his study, which served as his room most of the time.
Lily rubbed Karsten's shoulder. "Hey...maybe we should both get to bed to, huh?"
