Lily's grin returned, though her cheeks were still pink. She breathed deeply, closing her eyes as snow landed on her fair hair, her eyelashes, her shoulders. The earth child squeezed Karsten's hands, her smile as wide as ever.

Karsten smiled and looked around the rocky snow covered ground. He had forgotten how much he loved the view from the top of the Mountain.
He looked down at Lily's smiloing face. She looked beautiful in the moonlight, almost angelic. He leaned slighty and planted a small kiss on her lips.

Lily didn't open her eyes, just placed a hand on the back of Karsten's head and kissed him back. For a few seconds Lily was in bliss, then she drew away and looked back out at the mountain. She wasn't smiling anymore, and her green eyes held unexpected sadness.

Karsten studied the sadness on her face. ''Whats wrong..''He asked with concern tinging his voice.

Lily gulped. "I'm afraid to fall in love, Karsten." She said simply. She didn't want to lose anybody ever again, and the earth child knew that if you didn't let someone into your heart, they couldn't break it. A child's logic, but she knew she'd never survive another emotional blow like that of Annie's death.

Karsten nodded slowly. ''Well...when your ready, Ill be waiting for you. I dont want you to have any regrets.'' He said blinking and looking out over the land his race owned. ''Forever.'' He said looking to the moon now.

Lily reached over and touched his hand, her fingers warm on his skin despite the bitter cold. She didn't look at him, but her hand slid up his arm, to his shoulder, which she rubbed gently. "I know," She said quietly.

Karsten smiled despite the ripping feeling in his heart. ''Good...take your time then.'' He said his voice just above a whisper now. The wind blew tossing his reddish locks about, as well as Lily's blondish hair.

Lily removed her hand from Karsten;s shoulder and sat down on a nearby rock. She put her chin in her hand. "I'm sorry..." She said, seemingly for no reason.

Karsten shook his head. ''No need to be..I understand how you feel...being completly alone. I know that feeling...all to well.'' He said looking out at a pack of wolves running in the distance far below the peak where they stood.

Lily looked up at him through her fingers. "You do? But you're a Prince...surely you have no wealth of friends and...and lovers." She said, biting her lip.

Karsten shook his head. ''Absolutely not.'' He said blinking. ''I try not to get to close to people, and...even if I want to...I find it...so...hard to get close to someone...to be friendly...One of the only people I get along with very well is Oliver.'' He said sighing. ''As for lovers, not since I was young and foolish...'' He said embracing the cool wind that flowed over him.

Lily cleared the blonde hair from her face. The sudden urge to touch Karsten's cheek like she had outside the games hall seized her, and she had to pinch herself to keep her hands where they should be.
Lily looked away from him. "And would you consider what we're both doing...foolish?" She asked quietly.

Lily blinked. "Well, if you look at it, we're sitting outside in December without coats on. That, in itself, is stupid. I'm...really...confuzzled." She said, and rubbed her pinks nose. She felt peculiar, as if something was in the air...but it was probably justher imagination.
